Teaching and Learning in a Digitalised World

About Me
Hi, I’m Tully Sheldrick, a first-year primary education student with a lifelong passion for teaching.
At the ripe age of 6, completely out of the blue, I looked up at my mum and told her I was going to be a teacher! It has been my goal for as long as I can remember to become a teacher and inspire children in the way so many of my own teachers inspired me.
I was always the student desperate to help the teacher during lunch, always offering to cut something out or rearrange book cases and pen draws! When my friends would come over I'd force them into playing school with me so I could practise my teaching.
During my education, I experienced both the enthusiasm of early passion and the realistic challenges that come with school. Along the way, I lost that spark. That love for helping and teaching. In highschool, I loved to avoid my responsibilities and became a master of procrastination, no doubt a side effect from rigorous and ever changing learning environments that came with learning during covid. I began to doubt myself and could no longer see what I wanted from my life.
When I finished my own schooling journey, I decided to take a break and explore what the world had to offer me, intentionally broadening my perspective on education. I spent my first gap year working in an incredible boarding school in the English countryside, finding my love of education and teaching again, cementing the idea of what I wanted my future to look like. In my second year, not quite ready to return home, I became an Au Pair to two wonderful little boys in London. In addition to my Au Pair duties, I helped the boys with their homework, gaining exposure to wonderful UK online education programs.
These years away from home, spent travelling, working with children and finding the best version of myself, prepared me in the most all encompassing way to start my degree, with an end goal of teaching across the world and inspiring the little minds to become great.
I'm now pursuing my primary education degree with purpose, combining academic knowledge with practical experience to become an educator who can prepare students for an increasingly global and digitalised world.
